This was a nice surprise of a hike - glad to have done it, though. Tanya, Rincon, and I met Sam and Adam at the trailhead in the cool morning air, but the sun quickly warmed things up. Fun little trail: flat, steep, flat, steep, flat(ish), steep, repeat was the general process. Some of the better vistas I've seen in the Sedona area for sure. Rincon had a great time and drew some surprised reactions from fellow hikers: he's not the most athletic-looking dog, but he's quite the rock-hopper. Hates brush, too, so he's got the right idea. Sat in the shade on top and admired the snowy San Francisco Peaks. Could tell this wasn't the true "summit" of Bear Mountain, but the higher point looked marginally higher and was guarded by a sea of oak and manzanita. Close enough. Good day.
