| no partners | | Occasionally I volunteer my vehicle and time to shuttle hikers from a parking lot where their vehicle has been parked to a point where their hike is to begin. Well, today was one of those times. I followed up on a shuttle request that was posted on the HAZ Forum requesting a ride from Kelvin, where the vehicle was parked, to Picketpost, where the trip was to begin. The three person group from Colorado was going to hit the AZT on mountain bikes.
The bikes and trail gear was dropped off at Picketpost then we drove the vehicles to the AZT trailhead at Kelvin where the driver parked then jumped into my truck for the return. All went well until I missed a turn at Kelvin which chewed up a few minutes and miles but we made up the time on the way back
I had gotten to the Picketpost area quite early as my Verizon cell phone had dropped an hour putting me an hour early for our meetup, so I took advantage of the darkness to get some early morning sunrise shots of the corral and windmill. The sky was too cloudy for good sunrise color but the weather was nice and the early birds were singing.
I stayed around the Picketpost trailhead until the group headed down the trail then left for home. Hope you guys have a good trip. |
