What a wonderful morning to be out in the Superstitions. I Left the Mining Camp parking lot before 0600 under cloudless sky's and temps in the low 80's (for a change). Only one other car in the lot, so I fired up Route Scout and headed out. The hike to Siphon Draw was uneventful and the sun was still a long ways from rising over the Western cliffs and no other hikers in sight. Then I heard the distant humming of small motors and appearing out of the distant Southern sky was three motorized hang gliders.

I continued along the trail but observing the gliders as they came closer and began passing over the high cliffs at the entrance to Siphon Draw. The operators were having a good time in the early stillness even circling the Flatiron high above me before heading off in the direction of the Goldfield Mountains. The humidity in the air was becoming more noticeable as I was working up a pretty good sweat heading up into the narrow canyons and a slight breeze provided some cooling.

As I entered the brushy part of the canyon, I noticed several butterfly's that resembled the Monarch, although a bit smaller and slightly different coloration. They were working a flowering vine that was covering the brush and there were several of them. I had noticed the same butterfly's earlier in the month hanging around the same vines. This time, however, I noticed a couple of Tarantula Hawks working the same flowers (for the uninitiated, the Tarantula Hawk is a species of solitary Wasp that has no known enemy's wired.com/2015/07/a ... awk/ ).

I continued on to the Slick Rock Basin and by now I was no longer alone, guess I spent too much time with the butterfly's, cause there was now pairs of hikers heading up past the basin towards the Flatiron. I took a short break and began my return back down the trail, only to run into more hikers heading up.... three teens asked me where the top was  and how much farther

Cotton-ball clouds were now filtering in above the vertical cliffs providing a natural sunscreen against the rising sun and by now I only had a short distance to go to get to the parking lot, so let it shine. Left the windows open for the drive home to dry out the sweat soaked t-shirt :D

Found some flowering vines as I was entering the basin.

A small stagnant pool of water below the falls was dominated by bees.

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.
