I have always wanted to attend the Dutch Hunters Rendezvous but the timing has always been wrong because we were usually in transit between homes. Now that we have only one home.... Well, now I can finally make the scene.

This was the 11th annual celebration of the event that's been held at the Don's Camp along Peralta Road, just below the towering Dacite Cliffs. What a perfect location for this event, lots of camping room available, several buildings to retreat to if the weather should turn bad and the large Ramada to hold meetings and general BS sessions.

The turnout was one of the lowest in recent years with several of the expected 'regulars' not being able to make it. Several members of the cast and film crew from the Discovery Channel's "Legends of the Superstition Mountains" were on site to share their experiences while filming the 6-show series. Lots of conversations centered around the "Black Hand" and the "Bat Cave". They still don't know if the series is going to continue this season, but everyone's hoping for a repeat year.

One member of the film crew was on hand with his drone to give demonstrations of the many potential uses for the flying camera beyond spying on your neighbors and raising havoc with large aircraft. The drone he had was the DJI and had a value of around $2,400 with all the options. It's a great toy, but my wife's not about to spring that kind of money for my hobby :(

I spent Friday and Saturday at the event but left before most of the fun stuff happened later in the evening. Saturday morning, Greg Davis took several attendees on a hike to the newly discovered Adam Stewart's mine along the Peralta Trail...A horizontal shaft with a depth of about 80 feet. Greg Davis is the historian who works with Jack Carlson and Elizabeth Stewart on their "Hikers Guide to the Superstition Wilderness" . I could spend days just talking with Greg, he's one of the most knowledgeable sources on the Superstition Wilderness around today. Sure wish Wally had been there, his name came up several times during our conversations.

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.
