| no partners | | In celebration of my 75th birthday, I was going to ascend the Flat Iron one more time and then toss it out of my bucket. Randy (rwstorm) was going to accompany me as he had the first time I went up, but I got a call from him the night before, saying that he was going to cancel because it looked too much like it would rain on our attempt. Well, I was wakened this morning to the sounds of rain drops on the roof so I conceded, there would be no Flat Iron today.
Once the early rains let up, I drove out along the Peralta Road and went for a walk in the desert. It was a nice day with cool temps, light winds and overcast sky's.... it would have been perfect for the Flat Iron. I kept my eye on the sky and the dark clouds building up to the South and sure enough, buy the time I got home it began raining again....hard. Looking at the time, I'm sure we would have been still descending the the mountain and would have been caught in the cold driving rain. Guess that means that I'm just going to put it off until things clear up, but I'm going to do it |
