| partners | | Jilly took me on an adventure. I'd never been anywhere near this one before and it turned out to be a real treat. With flow of 22cfs, upstream travel wasn't too challenging and the clear pools were deep and enjoyable. When we got up to the narrowest stretch we sprawled on the beach and inflated the floaties. An upcanyon breeze offset the downstream current and water and air temperatures were perfectly balanced. After a couple of hours of fun, we headed back the way we came. Only instead of hiking, we let the floaties take us home. We spooked dozens of cliff swallows from their nests, saw one big beehive, and a harmless whipsnake (or similar). Just before reaching the truck, we encountered the only other person on the day -- a GFD officer doing a survey looking for a specific garter snake. Something with spots, so he wasn't interested in our sighting of a snake with stripes.
10/10 would do again. |
