| no partners | | I've been wanting to check out some hilltops along the west rim of Lime Creek Canyon ever since I went on a backpacking trip into the canyon 2 years ago. The plan was to hike up an old washed out road that leads to two tanks from Walnut Spring off of FR1094, then head up hill to the canyon rim. Walnut Spring is the location of the trail head used for the Lime Creek Cabin hike. This was a last minute plan hatched that morning so I didn't get to the TH until 10:44 am. There were lots of fresh footprints (human) on the first part of the trail but those disappeared once I past the turnoff from the old road to the Lime Creek Cabin Trail. Didn't see much in the way of wild life except one lone duck on the water in the first tank and the usual quail. I also didn't see another person on the hike although there was a pickup truck parked at the TH when I got back to my car at 4:20 pm. Found four small but fairly insignificant Indian ruins, bagged peaks 4939 and 4662, checked out a cave for ruins (none seen), and had some magnificent views of the area. So it was a good day. |
