This is likely the ultimate autumn loop when in season. The ridge walk on the Telephone trail must offer some incredible over canyon hues!
This was my first time on any portion of the Icehouse Canyon Trail. It's a nice trail. If I hadn't already been on Six Shooter a couple times I'd rate it higher. Six Shooter is better in the upper sections with it's enclosed warm atmosphere.
As cool as the canyon and ridge hiking was the road offered more bang for your buck today. Wildflowers literally blanket the nearby meadows. Accessible by easy off trail jaunts. I would not have been the least bit surprised if the microwave towers started blurting out the theme song from Little House on the Prarie.
The drive up wins me over every time, it's a cool area.
