| no partners | | I made this on the third attempt today with help from Preston and Chapman who posted a GPS coordinate for the spot where the Telephone trail leaves the Telephone ridge-trench line per Fritzski's map 33.30840 N 110.81488 W The junction was unsigned, uncairned and overgrown with manzanita. For Preston and Chapman's description see: "Sixshooter-Telephone Ridge Loop".
We built some cairns and trimmed manzanita so the entry is now obvious. The trail below and to the east of the ridgeline is an old road and is very easy to follow over to the juction with the Six Shooter trail. This junction is .7 mile and 700 feet below the top end of the Six shooter trail.
We did this as an up and back using only the Telephone trail. The best hike if you're new to the area would be to go up this triai to it's end at the Six Shooter trail and then down the Six Shooter trail.
This is a good summer hike as long as you start early. The lower end seems to be about 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix and the upper end about 15-20 degrees cooler. |
