What will it look like after the fire? Reynolds Creek was in pretty good shape, so I hoped that would be the case along Workman as well. Again, fire went through just about everything, but was low key in the travel zone. Things got pretty hot up on Baker and Carr Mountains in spots, and this resulted in some pretty serious debris flows coming down to the main channel. Lots of road work was done, and the drive up was smooth sailing. The only thing different in the lower portion was the closure of Falls CG to camping. Now day use only like the other two. Probably more about radiation fears than fire related (that was the logic used to turn the other two spots into day use only in the past).
The increased flow of water and debris, plus fire in the main channel cleared out a lot of the thick vegetation that had been choking a portion of the creek below the falls. Should be a little easier for awhile walking up toward the falls from points below. May not be as pretty, but easier. In general, things remain about the same as before the fire, just like in Reynolds, and that makes me . |
