It was a perfect weather day for a stroll along the creek, and even if the color show wasn't as spectacular as in some years, the sheer number of trees more than takes care of that. It was a pleasure to introduce Jack to Arizona's premier run of maples, putting on the great display they are known for.

Seems like the trees in this canyon are dying at a faster pace than when I first saw them in 2001. Lots of deadfall to navigate this time around. Otherwise, what can I say, always a delight.

I think Jack gets a little homesick for Minnesota this time of year. Perhaps I should have brought some rakes?
