| no partners | | Appreciating the good weather for hiking, the temperature was 63 degrees when I returned to the trailhead about 1600.Intended to do the circumference and add picket mill and the perlite mine aka apache tears cave as side trips. I added a couple of extra miles on the AZT but the mill or well eluded me, since back I read there is an old passage #17 that comes closer to it in Alamo Canyon. Met 2 thru hikers on the AZT and 4 others just doing out and back to the trailhead, otherwise no others except a couple of "miners" at the cave and a couple of atv's in telegraph canyon .Arnett Creek is very nice and flowing mildly. The break time is per route scout but should be much longer, probably spent 25 minutes picking up small pieces of obsidian and numerous photo stops. Some small patches of poppies on the way up to the perlite mine, heavy lupine on the drive from peralta road to Gonzales pass. |
