| no partners | | My neighbor and her friend who had just escaped from 14 deg weather in Ann Arbor, Michigan, wanted to go on a hike so I chose the Cholla Mountain Loop from the Browns Ranch Trailhead in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve North. Got to the TH early enough in the morning to be able to easily finish the hike while the temperatures were reasonable. The desert landscape was a lush green with wildflowers scattered along the way. Saw a few rabbits enjoying the fresh greenery and a large red tailed hawk drifting on the up drafts high above. The mountain bikers kept the trail cleared of snakes, a disappointment because I enjoy seeing them as long as it's on my terms. I hadn't been to Cathedral Rocks or the Ampitheater which turned out to be worthwhile scenic stopping points. A pleasant morning with good company and the ladies treated me to lunch at the Egg'N Joe restaurant on the way home. |
