| no partners | | I walked a section of north-central Perry Mesa going over a few low hills just to see what I could see. I didn't expect much except a little exercise but on the plus side the parking spot could reasonably handle rainy day mud problems and this was mainly new ground for me.
I did pass a very long low wall...possibly related to one Alston and I noticed about a mile west. Pretty sure this one is historic possibly built by cowhands, shepherds, or chicken tenders. On one of the early hilltops I found a concentration of broken pottery; this also happened several other times along the loop: much pottery without an identified ruin.
As I got nearer the Rosalie area I did pass an unexpected ruin with several identifiable rooms, much pottery, and a broken metate. A little further along I stopped at a larger ruin I'd been to before and turned around there taking a different route back.
I'd been curious about a couple structures on the map so I angled to pass by them. I don't know their history but they're reasonably intact.
The sprinkles mainly left me alone but the heavens really opened on my drive back soon after I hit pavement. Cars were pulling off the interstate on both the right and left...glad I wasn't an hour later. |
