| no partners | | Hatched a plan to go back to a favorite place and take a look from a different angle - concentrate on the boulders below the Brooklyn cliff band. There is so much ancient cultural stuff around here I figured I was bound to see interesting things.
I was surprised when I got there to see how much this summer's Brooklyn Complex fire had changed the area. It actually looked like a moonscape which makes the boulders, small ruins, pottery pieces, etc a lot easier to see.
I spent some time looking at petroglyphs on the cliff band before going down the hill. There were a couple nice petroglyphs on prominent boulders I passed along the way. Further down I passed several small ruins and an area with long rock alignments which I guess are terrace edges made for agricultural reasons. The rock down here is granite so hard to peck images (though I saw a few). Fun day though I was plenty blackened by the time I got back to the car. |
