| no partners | | I never get tired of this hike, I have been coming up here since 1960 when my father use to drag us up here every year, was kind of a ritual. We always took the Old Baldy Trail (back then it was the only trail, there was no super trail). This is actually my first hike along the Super Trail. I think the only thing super about the trail is that it is super long. I prefer the old trail, I believe in getting right to the Peak. The super trail does offer some good views to the South and East that the old trail doesn't and really good close views of Josephine Peak. I have not been to baldy Spring since the 60's when there was still a cabin there and the mountain still had trees.
This was a great late summer hike. There were pillowy clouds that kept rolling in against the mountains in the morning making the views spectacular and ever changing. with the summer monsoons every thing was green and plenty of water. I will probably do this hike again since it seems to be ingrained in me. |
