| partners | | Finally met back up with Almal for a quick overnighter. Considering fire bans & closures, we agreed on Point Trail to WCC. FR's 142 & 142E were in good shape. Plenty of traffic in the area. Car campers galore. We made quick work of the descent into the canyon and started footing it upstream. Beautiful pools, green vegetation and cliff walls awaited at every turn. Rosie was in heaven and provided plenty of entertainment. Al picked a great camp spot. We set up and went exploring further upstream. It was warm, the sun was intense, but being in and around water all day made any discomfort go away. Shortly after return to camp, we hit the campsite swimming / fishing hole. Light sprinkles came down on and off for a couple of hours. I've seen the storms popping up on the rim everyday lately, so I was fully expecting a shower. At about 6:15pm the downpour started. Heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder echoing through the canyon lasted about an hour. The rest of the night was nice and cool. We started our return trip pretty early on Sunday a.m. We soaked up all of previous night's rain by pushing through wet vegetation. The canyon sure was full, but very few actually ventured by our camp spot. Me and Rosie had a great time. Thanks for driving, Al.. |
