| partners | | This was a nice loop put together by Linda, that we had stashed away for a few weeks. Weather seemed perfect to give it a go this weekend, and it was. Temps still in the 50's at the start. Up Mingus #105 was an early treat. Lush vegetation, tall pines and patches of yellowing oak, all the way to the top. The piles of bear scat got larger and fresher as we climbed, but no Yogi sightings. After topping out, we checked out the views, walked up to the tower and turned around. We started down Gaddes and lunched in some shade at the junction with Gaddes Two. This was a scenic & shaded canyon. The trail was loaded with acorns and even more bear scat. The creek was bone dry aside from a couple of stagnant pools. The road walk was next. Sun exposed, but a steady breeze kept conditions very comfy. Great views and no traffic made it an enjoyable road walk. We veered onto Viewpoint and continued on to #105A as we climbed back up to the junction with #105, which we took back down to the TH. We both agreed that #105 was the favorite trail of the day, so it was nice to start and finish the day with. Overall, another great day in the mountains. |
