Headed to the Desert Vista Trailhead to get a few hours hiking in under the gray skies that were present this morning. Getting underway about 7:30 I headed up the Hawks Nest Trail pausing to snap a few pics of the owl in residence. At the junction I went to the left on the DM trail. It went around the mountain with the houses in view off to the left. Eventually it turned back toward the interior snaking through the hills. At about 1.25 miles in I turned around to head back. The trail at this point had an abundance of cholla cactus on either side. There was a moderate amount of hikers and bike riders out and about today. Back to the trailhead with a good hike of about 3.1 miles under my belt.
