| no partners | | I decided to finally check out the Gateway Trailhead area.I arrived to find a large and rather full parking area. After consulting the map I picked up I decided to do part of the Gateway Loop going CCW turning back at the Bell Pass Trail. Got underway about ten to eight. It was a beautiful morning for a hike as the wind the past few days had rendered the skies a clear blue. The Gateway Loop Trail, once I got on it made a gentle ascent with the footing alternating between good and slightly not so good. Lots of interesting looking cactus for me to look at. Expansive views to the west. A few saguaro blossoms were the only floral sightings of the morning. The biggest surprise for me was how busy the trail was. I had never seen so many people out! There were some good sized groups too. Only 2 bike riders were brave enough to fight the crowds. I look forward to doing more of this trail in the future. |
