| no partners | | | Like to hike this as a parting treat before heading back to the valley,combined it today with completing Fatman's Loop. Usually start early ,today about 0700,and still have enough time to get back to the hotel and pack up before check out.Unique to this hike and I don't find it unpleasant that is the sound of freight train rumbling,almost constantly, while hiking this trail. Today was a hold on to your hat day,in fact it did get away once,it was particularly breezy up by the lookout. Some apprehension about standing by the communication tower as the dishes had a loud hum from the wind induced vibrations.Met one solo hiker on the way up and a bearded gentleman digging a hole at one of the switchback turns,claimed he had found gold ? On the way down 6 other hikers and a ranger with a power saw and an aptly named dog "copper".Saw a couple of steller jays and squirrels, trail is in very good shape. Sadly when the hiking is over its drive time. |
