| no partners | | I have been fighting off a flu bug for more than 3 weeks and kept postponing challenging hikes. I decided to take the lovely Mrs. Dilling and Son #3 out to Hewitt Canyon for a little exploring. I last came through this area in the 1990's. It's been way too long. We recently upgraded our dirt road capabilities and I thought this little jaunt would be a nice way to get out of the house and get some fresh air and scenery.
We stopped a few locations for some exploring and eventually made our way to the arch. It's easy to spot right off the road. Traffic was pretty heavy today along this road. Lots of trucks & ATVs out. Lots of target practice as well. It sounded like a war zone at the start of Hewitt Canyon Road.
The hike up to this cool arch is very easy and not far at all. It took us 10 minutes to get up to the arch. The entire canyon is very scenic and this area is no exception. I will return to this spot for some nighttime shooting once the Milky Way is visible again.
On the way back, there was a truck blocking the road. I was about to start honking my horn and yelling, but then we saw why they had stopped. Right in Hewitt Canyon there was a group of Big Horn sheep. A ram and 4 ewes. Always a treat to see those amazing creatures.
A quick and easy hike with the family. It was a nice morning in the Supes for sure.
