I had 2 out of 3 sons in town, so we decided to hike up one of my favorite trails. We arrived later than normal and were greeted with a completely full parking lot at 745am. I am used to pulling up in the dark and having my choice of spots....ha ha

The weather certainly made it an appealing hike. It was perfect. Not hot, not cold, and sunny.

I have done this hike over 50 times, but I never get tired of it. My middle son has hiked with me in the area, but has never taken Peralta to the Fremont Saddle. We always did the Cave Trail or headed off the other direct via Bluff Springs or Dutchman Trail. We headed up and saw a steady flow of hikers going up and down. I have seen the saddle area fuller, especially in the peak season, but it's still always a joy to see Weavers Needle once you get to the top.

We made it out to the Lone Pine, along with 10-15 of our new hiking buddies. That's always a great place to visit too.

We contemplated going down the Cave Trail, but my wife was already texting me wondering when we would get home. (4gLTE at the Lone Pine, btw). So, we decided to head back down the way we came up.

We saw a very large number of people heading up on the way down. We also saw some volunteers doing the good work of trail maintenance. I will have to volunteer for that duty one of these days.

A nice day for a hike with 2/3 of my sons. I will be nice when I can get all three together and do a hike.
