This is an area where Silver Creek, Bishop Creek and the Agua Fria all come together and I couldn't really tell where the various flows we encountered were coming from.
At the bottom of Baby Canyon we passed through an area of metates and glyphs I've been to before and expanded the search to find some new ones. Up the hill to the mesa edge and I was on new ground. Walking the edge for a mile or so we found various ancient signs including petroglyphs, grinding features, and pottery pieces. Worked out well.
Descended down into Baby Canyon and rock hopped, limb-ducked, and bush-bashed our way back to the car. Made a wider turn east - the Agua Fria was flowing enough that crossing with dry feet was a challenge. |
