I've done a number of walks east of Seven Springs on the west side of that long ridge separating Cave Creek from the Verde River. Not many people visit here except for target shooters and not many walk it except for the occasional hunter. Nonetheless it's close to home and I usually see some ancient signs during the course of a hike though it's pretty sparse.

I had a waypoint from @kenjacobsen that looked like a decent-sized ruin and I spotted something else not too far away and so I decided to make a loop out of it....the area is just north of Humboldt Mountain.

I drove a ways up a jeep road (subaruable) to my planned starting point - a couple hundred feet away from three guys setting up to do some shooting. (That's 3 or 4 trips in a row.) The ruin was not far and it is the biggest one I've seen in this area. I'd guess 10-20 rooms but so overgrown it was hard to see much. It's on a nice flat plane and I imagine there was some agriculture there. But I couldn't find many artifacts in the vicinity, not even much pottery, though the tall grass could have been hiding things.

I continued on to my second target which was a bust - just natural rock alignments.

Circled back over some highpoints with nice views to Lime Creek and the Verde to the east. Probably the worst walking conditions I've had for some time. Tall grass and hidden rocks is the norm up here but it was a lot worse today, particularly on the ridge I took back. I think I'll postpone more trips up here until the next fire clears it out.
