| no partners | | Easy loop, first following random horse trails on the east side of Bush Highway and more of the same on the west side, a short jaunt along the Salt River, a climb up Coon Bluff Ridge, ending along the ridge of the small hill adjacent to Coon Bluff Road.
Encountered a few wild horses, but being pretty much the usual it wasn't anything special.
However, at the Coon Bluff parking lot I met a gentleman with what 'appeared' to be an early-50's MG-TD, but having had experience working on just that type of MG (albeit some 50 years ago) there were telltale signs it was a kit-car. Not wanting to start off with that fact, I asked him if it was an original TD, and when he replied it was not, I asked it it was a FiberFab kit-car, to which he responded it was...
Hmmm... interesting, as it just so happens, 40 years ago I actually actually sold FiberFab kit cars. And so we spent sometime chatting about it, mainly him asking me questions about it because he was given the car a short time before and knew very little about it. All he knew is that it had some kind of 4-cylinger engine which turned out to be a Chevrolet Vega engine... not my first choice, but I kept that to myself.
It was kind of fun reminiscing, bringing up lots of old fun and not-so-fun memories... like when he said the wind wasn't very enjoyable, and I knew he meant it wasn't the wind as such, but how it pulled up every bit of dust off the floor and into the driver's eyes... which I knew very well from personal experience.
I gave him a few tips and we each went our own way.
Dang! I got so wrapped up in the chatting I failed to get a picture of the Red TD. ](https://hikearizona.com/dex2/images/smilies/eusa_wall.gif) |
