We began with a loop up top along the rim then looping back first along along part of the General Crook Trail and back to the start on the northern leg of the Military Sinkhole Trail.
I wasn't aware the Rim Lake Vista Trail was paved which didn't take long to cause an issue for me... within a few hundred yards my right foot began tingling and by less than a quarter mile I had lost all feeling. Because this had happened before while walking on a hard surface I began walking alongside the trail and sure enough, the feeling started to return and within another half-mile all was back to normal.
Then we drove down to the 260 Trailhead for an up-and-down hike on the below-the-rim segment of the Military Sinkhole Trail.
Nice! The temperature barely reached the mid-80's by time we completed the hike. |
