Easy to moderate off trail loop.

For a mile or two we walked through the woods quietly hoping to see bears. Ever been on a Silent Group Hike? In the spirit of being positive, it is safer being able to concentrate on obstacles in your path of travel.

Creeks were pooled or a light flow maybe 25% of the canyon hike.

The best part of the hike was the company, occasional breezes, coneflowers and the shortcut out of paradise.

Not in my top 100. I do enjoy the non descript shallow canyons on the Mogollon Rim in the short window of cool Autumn in peak foliage. Even then it's a better hike from below the rim for a change of terrain, views and shorter drive.

Coneflowers galore. Fair scattering of Western Dayflower. Occasional Mexican Silene and a hint of Red Cinquefoil. Isolated Golden-Beard Penstemon. Fleabane. Richardsons Geranium. Hemlock-Parsley.
