| partners | | I had hike up to Battleship a couple of times before from the First Water TH, but had never done it from Canyon Lake. So I decided to change that today, and I managed to coerce Tracie, my favorite and intrepid hiking partner, into joining me.
We did the loop around Battleship in a CCW fashion. Going along the Boulder Canyon Trail was pretty straightforward. The trail was a bit rocky in places but it was in decent shape. It was another fun scramble once we got up on Battleship. While at the summit we met @DennisWilliams, who was only the second HAZer that I have met out on a hike.
After descending from Battleship, we dropped into Labarge Box and hung out for awhile. We saw a tarantula crawling across the rocks and enjoyed observing the creature for a bit.
The boulder hopping in Labarge Creek was kinda fun on the way back. There was a bit of water in the creek, which we had to dodge in a few places.
This was a fun hike, although it is longer and has more elevation gain than going from First Water. |
