One of several challenging hikes in the general area (along with Quartz, Woolsey, Maricopa/Sand Tanks, etc.) that have some geology and interesting desert flora in common. Nice thing about Table Top is it's a bit more civilized than some of the other regional high points, easily reached with a two wheel drive pickup or similar vehicle with a little clearance. It also features facilities at the trailhead and a really pleasant trail all the way to the top. It also differs in that reaching the summit is not necessarily the highlight here. IMHO, the best part of the hike is about 2/3 of the way up, where agaves, cacti, ocotillos, ephedra (Mormon Tea), and yuccas rule the roost in some beautiful rocky terrain. An interesting wall is encountered not too far from the top, and appears to be a old sheep pen or some such.
