Beautiful day to try a big hike -- well, big by MY standards, anyway. Dixie Mine Trail is in fine shape as always, and thankfully, not nearly so busy now that Adero Canyon is up and running. The service road is being given the once over -- pretty much start to finish. Not really sure why, it wasn't in any particular need of maintenance, tho they seem to be building a new stretch just as it starts going up toward the saddle along the Thompson ridgeline. Again, I'm wondering why, and my best guess is that they may want to pave more of it. We'll see...

At about 3500', between the saddle and the summit, I was surprised to spot a couple of small potsherds, so there may have been a ruin at or near the summit before they started dropping giant antennas there.
