Back to the Mazzie's for the third weekend in a row! We wanted a short leisurely hike with good weather and a creek to cool off in and Deer Creek delivered! Just a 3-mile hike to this great little camping spot where we sunbathed, took naps in the shade and enjoyed a day of solitude. Funny thing, within 5 minutes of leaving the trailhead we were buzzed by a 2000 strong swarm of bees about 30 feet over our heads... And when we got to this little camping site discovered there was an old white oak with a beehive inside only about 15 feet off the trail. we didn't bother them, and they didn't bother us so that was good luck, I think. Decent stargazing, bellies full, and sleeping in hammocks is the te-wa family agenda :-)
Very relaxing and refreshing to have a stream in the desert.
