Did this as an abbreviated Arnett Canyon hike, starting from the north near Queen Creek. Shauna and I parked near Pinal City ghost town and then made our way south. Queen Creek had some water flowing and a couple of large pools at the road crossing, but we were able to stay dry when crossing by using a log bridge and a path that hugged a rock wall. We walked the old road to the Apache Tears mines up to the north rim of Arnett Canyon and then dropped into Arnett itself on a new trail link. We went down canyon in Arnett a ways, then up canyon, and also did a side hike into lower Telegraph Canyon. Hazy gloom clouds overhead made it a bit chilly in the shady canyon. On the way back I gave Shauna a tour of Pinal City, complete with historic photos. We watched the setting sun turn Apache Leap reddish-orange as we enjoyed a tailgate happy hour at the truck. Capped off the day trip with some Mexican food take-out at Los Hermanos in Superior before heading home.
