Headed up the trail late morning, enjoying old mines and the numerous wild flowers along the way: poppies, lupines, chicory, brittle bush, Dichelostemma capitatum and globe mallow among others. We hid from the wind in the rocks below the summit and had lunch before starting back down. The wind was blowing hard and I lost my hat to strong gusts a few times. As we neared the trailhead, a lone hiker passed us who looked familiar. "Jim?" I shouted. "Preston?" came a reply. Sure enough, it was Jim H. We talked for a bit before heading out in opposite directions. Great to finally meet you, Jim! Great hike!
