| partners | | Finally we were able to get together, altho this was Plan B since Tibberlocks decided it was going to be a warm one today. So we decided to go on an Owl Hunt. We started around 8AM and kept a pretty good pace thru this beautiful part of the desert. And per usual, we got to talking so much we missed the first nest. We did find some Owl Clover that I was pretty excited to see. Kelly thot I had spotted an animal or something per my joy at spotting the clover, ha!
We said our hellos to the owl at the second nest and took some pictures at the second nest but saw no babies. We continued north to the junction with Cliff Walk and checked out the gauging area before heading south. We eventually ended up on Badger Brawl Trail and then to Apache Wash for the rest of our hike back to the TH. This is a great little loop that takes advantage of this extra bountiful desert, despite no rain. The saguaros are always a treat and though there isn't a forest of them they were interesting. We did see a few lizards, some Christmas cholla, and a few blooming hedgehogs along with a few bike riders and helicopters.
I made a bet with Kelly about hiking with her in this area previously. Looks like I'm buying breakfast. The hike was one she had suggested a few years back and I had texted her on Ridgeback BUT she wasn't along.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
