| no partners | | Some insect has light webs on the paloverdes here too. However, just barely compared to Piestewa. The goldeneye bushes are blooming. Sphinx moths aren't hovering around but I didn't arrive early. Butterflies at the summit. A [ Two-tailed Swallowtail Butterfly ] chase seemed out-of-place considering it's too hot for mechanical wings today. Checking the HAZ label and looking under the thumbnail photos shows a count-by-month. Nearly all are April - September. So thinking "yeah but not in the desert" I clicked the mini-map at the top. While not in the Valley, several are nearby and August precip was above average.
The park was maybe half-full when I started. Almost up the Paul Bunyan Moki steps, I dropped my water bottle like a pro... lol For an approaching late morning timeslot there were several couples that were obviously on their first hike up the mountain. It was cool to see their genuine excitement. Hopefully, they brought oven mitts for the rail. |
