Bruce slapped together a gnarly loop back in 2013. Being so close to home and not in the Superstitions I gripped up a storm until we hiked it. Tables turned and I've been itching to get back out here for the past year. Better yet, holiday-group-hiker jlp was joining!

Bruce's subi got a passing grade for the drive in with stock-ply tires. The hike to the saddle is cake considering all. From the saddle heading down, mountain views are damn sweet. However, you spend a large slice of the descent keeping a constant eye on the rocky footing. The lower third is naggy thorn bush. Nothing dense. I'm grateful a trail exists. Desirable trails attract undesirables anyhow, perhaps this oughta be the new standard. =)

Lime Creek is a refreshingly welcome change of pace. Ribbons everywhere and GPS may help. Good ol' Wally radar feeling out the terrain probably nets quicker likewise results.

We stopped to investigate water coming down the ravine from Lime Spring. I snapped a couple of photos and headed to the cabin. Took me ten minutes to realize I was alone... lol Headed back and saw they dropped packs to go check out the source. I started up, then decided it might be wise to stay put. So I had an early lunch, sang 99 bottles, and wrote a book. Freebie breaks rock! I smelled a skunk at 9:50 am, luckily it passed almost as quickly as it arrived. Later, they confirmed similar so it was probably a mile from either of us. pur360solutions dot com says we badass humans can detect 'em up to 3 nautical miles(3.45 mi).

Bruce wanted to show John the inscription wall. After two-geeks gone wild simmered down, we returned to the cabin for lunch. The hike out with two weeks of winter before spring starts was the warmest it's been this year. A fabulous breeze made it ten times more enjoyable than descending.

Synopsis
I packed for twice the hike because I didn't grasp the plan. Albeit abbreviated vs 2013, still a gem of an area and a great day.
