| partners | | FR419 is rockier than I recalled; scattered rock is virtually cemented into a firm base. The mud rutted section further in was dry. That said, any vehicle except low-riders sportin' bicycle tires can probably negotiate the current dry road. A few car/RV campers out along the road but not overrun, and the trailhead was only 2/3 full @ 8:50 am.
Barnhart starts rocky, but it smooths out within the first mile, and I didn't notice it on the return. Regardless, the first mile or mile-n-half seemed a lot nicer than memory served, trees galore.
We crossed paths with the Kactus Kickers hiking group and met @Hiking_Fool! There was a small group at Big Kahuna. A couple of thru-hikers on the divide. Overall, maybe two dozen hikers all day; expected more.
The lowest flow we've seen at the falls. I'd guestimate it peaked ten days prior. The hike piques my interest regardless of the behemoth waterfalls. The Mazzie Skylounge looks like a worthy bushwhack for the someday list.
It was a great day weather/company wise. Discovered a pinhole two-thirds from the top of my water bladder ten minutes from home in the morning, so I ran out of water with three miles to go. No biggie, just ironic hiking with Wally since he's one of two I know that prefers a container... lol |

Dry |
| | First I recall this one being dry. It was like going back home for Christmas only to realize someone swiped the Christmas Tree. | | _____________________
