The hills are covered in Erect Spiderling that is starting to die. My long sleeve attire may not have been the brightest idea sans breeze for an 11 am start in August but roll with the punches.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Skyline Park is remarkable. Forced myself over here because HAZ needed another new guide for the month. This little loop hike was much better than anticipated. The slight downside was the 240% humidity. Quartz Mine Trail hits a lot of positives with a near-effortless tread through continuously changing views.
Lost Creek Trail is an old Jeep road. My fabulous hike encountered the gasp I expected sooner. Yet the weather was getting nicer so the whining was short-lived. Started at 11:00 a.m. 88°, 84° at the top of the exhilarating 700 ft ascent. I made a rookie mistake not bringing a jacket and damn near froze to death as the cool breeze picked up with sprinkles ending the loop at 81°. Yeah, it's all fun and games until somebody needs help with their password and I'm shivering in the desert too cold to type. |
