Before reaching my final destination campsite, about 7 miles in, I came across an unusual find. Hanging from a tree off trail was, a large black Bear Grylls type backpack, with a black folding chair, and a medium sized black zippered bag, all clipped together hanging from a tree with a small piece of mule tape. I didn't dig into it of course, but it was difficult to pass without bumping into it. In a side pouch I noticed a can of bear spray in the Bear Grylls type backpack. Odd, maybe, for this area? There were no spider webs, dust, or debris on the gear leading me to believe it was recently placed. Kudos for carrying the large folding chair this far, they should get a Medal. When I left on Thursday the gear was still there. I suspect maybe someone was setting up a Maiden Falls trip and stashed the big stuff ahead of time. The campsite has continued to erode but it is still pretty nice. |
