This area is going to give me a few more trips just to explore some cliffs and ridges.
We stayed in the shade half the way behind Lion Mtn.
The creek bed was mostly easy going.
We headed out of the creek bed before I had planned but it looked less steep.
There is no evidence of a mine but it looks like the place has been blasted or something has been surface mined.
There is no road up this part of the canyon and the closest road is almost a mile away.
Along the cliffs there are ledges anywhere from 1 foot to 3 feet wide.
We used these to move across and up the cliffs.
about 3/4 of a mile from the truck i felt water dripping down my back and discovered that I lost nearly half a litre of water.
One of my bottles got a hole in it when I fell. This causes us to head straight to the truck.
WE took 3 hours to cover 1.5 miles and that’s because of the steepness and just sitting and enjoying the views.
Lots of birds. Some flew overhead and sounded like a super fast drone.
About 30 ducks at the tank. The tank is full and now only half covered with green goop.
Nice birthday hike. |
