It's been a while since I posted. I've taken the same hike a bunch of times. I'm not sure I would write about it more than once.

I decided to make it easy on myself and just do a road hike, knowing full well that I was lying to myself.
Today was a tank that's been on my list for for a few years:
4:!2 - Parked at Calabasas group campground - Toward Pena Blanca lake.
Crossed the road that leads up to one of the BP towers.
About a half mile in(UP) there is a wide spot in the road that turns into a faint "road" that
leads downinto Walker canyon to Rock Tank. It sits at the bottom of a gigantic natural funnel
that has a concrete dam at the bottom. I found no footprints or tire tracks down this way.
4:30 - Well that didn't take long. Really cool rocky area. Lots of opportunities for boulder hopping
or scaling short(10-30 foot) walls. The dam for the tank was built in 1943 and appears to be in
great shape
5:28 found a vehicle that rolled down a ravine.
5:49 - back at the truck

About half way down to the tank and to the South I saw something shiny but couldn't make it out and decided to check it out if I had time. Hiked down below the dam a little and then more to the West. This tank sits near the edge of some cliffs on Walker Canyon to the South of rt 289.

Not much to report other than it was a nice way to start the warm weather hiking season. I found faint evidence of where the rolled SUV may have come down and rolled. It looks like it was a place for people to spend the night on their trek to the north. Well hidden.

Instead of going back the winding "road" I opted to just head straight up the hill and came back.
Got back in time for the kids end of year school dance. She just might be a model one day. So beautiful. Just like her mom.

90 degrees and no clouds. Stiff breeze helped. Maybe one pint of water. No breaks.
75% off trail/road. Walker Tank is about a mile further but I think I'll take a different route.
