Today was a Mixed bag of Randomness.
The last two weeks at work have been really rough with 10-12 hour work days. What's helped me through is looking forward to the hike today which fell short on distance but did not disappoint in any other way.

9:27 - Parked the truck by the tank. This is the fullest I have ever seen it which is good for the animals. We soon found
out that the gates were underwater so we had to climb barbed wire fences. As we worked our way around the tank we
noticed a familiar smell and looked around and found some tomatoes. Maybe someone had a salad in the shade and left the
seeds behind?

10:13 - Reached the saddle below the cliffs.
Heard gun shots. They were two ridges over but the guys who hunt one weekend out of the year worry me. Maybe they got
tired of missing deer and decided to go and miss target too?
10:48 - Found a cool lookout to rest and enjoy and heard voices. C. Pointed at two people standing by the truck.
By the time I got around to looking there were at least 20. And this is why the break time in my travel stats is so
long.
Whoever they were they were insanely fast. It looked like they were sprinting when they finally left.
I went ahead and checked out more of the cliffs and C. Stayed behind and faced timed the granddaughter.

on the return trip we looped around the base of the cliffs and headed down into the canyon in the shade. Yes, shade at 1:00 pm from the canyon walls. We both took a pretty bad tumble on the way down. Home now, icing down bruised and cut knees and a noggin lump.

We opted to not go back the way we came and stayed on the high ground to get back to the "road". We had a good vantage point to see if anyone was still hiding around the truck. Odd that there were no people tracks on the road.

Hopefully We'll get another chance to get to the top of Lion Mtn soon. Today was enough excitement for a week or so.
