3.3 miles
52 degrees at start
62 degrees end
Used one quart of water.
The steepest part was the road into the canyon. After that I was off trail. It was easier to come up out of the canyon beside the road because of the roly rocks
Very steep in places but it was pretty easy to find bare rock.
Found a small shelter cave with backpacks and a blanket. It looks like there are places for many more of these but I didn’t check them out.
Lots of those peppers people go looking for. Not sure if this is the right time of year to pick them though.
This looks like a possible way to the top of Tumacacori but it’s a longer way to get to it compared to the road that goes way out there near the mine.
1450 elevation gain
I tend to hike slow because I’m always poking around and checking out things along the way.
Spend about 30 minutes checking out the first set of cliffs. Really grippy rocks. Not sure if I wore off the tread of my shoes today or its been worn off over time but the rocks today could have done it for sure.
Coming back I masted my skill of falling down.
Usually going down hiss is a breeze but the catclaw was so thick in places that I had to push very hard to go down. Ripped a bog hole in my canvas shirt.
If I had taken a lunch I would have gone further.
4wd to the place where I parked. Old blue could make it to the bottom with no problem but the rocks are so loose I don’t know if he would make it out. |
