We drove up Apache Trail to a pull off just before we reached the end of the paving on the left side of the road to begin our hike. The drop into the canyon was to the down and to the left as we dropped into the canyon. We got close to the GPS point where the spiral staircase was supposed to be and wondered if we would find it. Ron slipped into it and dropped down below us while we searched for the path he took down. Ron finally pointed it out to us. As we came down the canyon, we looked forward to find a way down from the drop off, when we should have looked back to find the 'slot' to drop through. This is a fun hike if you are into 'scrambling' and finding your way.

We did see a few brittlebush in bloom, not much else.
