Inspired by @dixieflyer ‘s recent triplog, Kelly and I opted to hit Thompson Peak from Adero Canyon today. Got started around 0845 and headed up Promenade Trail, which seems to just be an old road. After that, we got on Lower Sonoran Trail, which was in perfect condition, as was Sonoran Trail. Dixie Mine was slightly rockier. The fun began on Thompson Peak Rd. Very muddy from recent grading, and the dirt portion is now twice as wide as it used to be. Getting onto the steep pavement was almost a relief. Foggy at the top while we took pictures.

Easier descent than expected, and even some graupel on the way down. Pretty much retraced our steps, but stayed on Sonoran instead of Lower Sonoran. Temps in the 40s all day, with a cool breeze—perfect. Only saw maybe five or six other hikers. Great hike, and great conversation.
