| partners | | Took the kids and dog up to Hidden Valley. Nice views of the snow covered mountains to the east once we got high enough on Mormon Loop. Ran into a somewhat lost hiker from Minnesota and gave him directions to get back to his car. It always starts with “where did you park?” and goes from there. This time it was easy, “turn left, then left, at the next two junctions and you’ll be fine.”
Came down Hidden Valley, annoying a hiker who decided to take a break directly in the middle of the path and write in his journal. I was less than apologetic about nearly running over him. Stayed in wash the rest of the way down. The dog had no issues with the scrambling and needed no assistance other than my pointing the correct direction every so often. Ran into another semi-lost hiker who thought he was going to slide down the large dryfall. Uh, only if you want to break a few bones. He followed us through, then asked how to get up to the ridge. I pointed out the easiest way and which rock to aim for and he meandered away.
Nice amount of water in the wash, which meant lots of bees. The kids had fun working their way down, then an easy dirt road walk to finish. Nice day, seemed a little warm. Lots of people out, plenty of tourists. |
