| partners | | This hike was recommended to us by a friend who said it was easy and scenic, and he was correct. The drive to the trailhead was much easier than recent reports on AllFails—those made it sound like you needed high clearance 4wd. Not even close. Any SUV would have been fine on the entire road.
Lots of mosquitos, so plenty of bug spray was used. The first lake was right next to the parking lot. Quick pics, admired the super clear water, then headed up the trail to the other two lakes. Easy hiking, lots of granite boulders, good views. Stopped at Lake Two next, then over to Lake Three. Three was our favorite. It was the largest, and seemed to have the best scenery.
Didn’t stay too long, as clouds were building. Forecast called for weather after 1pm, so we headed back down to the trailhead. Skipped the loop option in order to finish quickly. Good timing, because it started raining at 1:03 right after we got into the truck.
If I go back in the future, I’d climb up to the ridge behind Lake Three and up to the summit of Roman Nose. Camping at the campground near Lake One might be fun too. |
