| partners | | Jumped on a last-minute invite with a 4:30 am meetup to join Linda and Gecko leading JLP into retirement. A near-full moon setting on the horizon created a nice ambiance on the drive in.
Super Trail #134
Lower Super Trail has some choppy rock. Writing that down as an RS Note, I was immediately tarred, feathered, set ablaze, and left for dead. Apparently, a trail I frequent is a thousand times worse... the perspective drifts not knowing every single rock.
The trail is super smooth after the initial YDS 1.1 Class
I called out the social sinners surrounding me on occasion, then dialed back due to the potential lengthy walk home.
Old Baldy Trail #372
We took #372 to the summit instead of the super wrap-around. From the saddle up we got lucky with a big cloud to block the death star. Then a rare opportunity to enjoy the final switchbacks where the pace is often pushed to busting a heart valve.
Lunch for myself and a snack break for the balance at the bug-free summit.
We hauled turtle all the way down #372 back to square one.
Synopsis
The weather was pretty nice throughout considering the great '23 heat wave is busting out the whip for a couple more weeks.
Several birds chirping. I got closer to succeeding with Bruce's recommended Merlin app. It's just not as easy to figure out without glasses as eBird.
Most probably enjoy the direction of travel we took today. I prefer ascending the steeper caddywampus footing up Old Baldy. Glad I didn't have to hold back jj and Nick on my nemesis descent.
Great hike and company, appreciate the invite and a big thanks to Linda for driving. |

Wildflowers Observation Light A step up from isolated. A small patch of Columbine behind Sprung Spring then a larger patch further up. The larger yellow Asteraceae have wilted away. Symmetrical baby blues intrigued. |
