1045 start. I queued up a nice easy loop hike from the Needle Vista lot to Hackberry Spring, up to Garden Valley and back via Second Water trail and the Horse Lot.

Then I got silly and added a second loop with an off trail trek across Black Mesa to Second Water Canyon, which pretty much negated the little saunter I had in mind.

The view east from the top of Black Mesa almost made it worth the effort. While in Second Water Canyon I came across some old pipes and a spring box that I didn’t expect to see.

It was chilly out with clear skies, just a wisp of breeze. Didn’t see many people today.
